INTERGRATED Communications provider Telkom Kenya has launched a special offer for the month of Ramadan that will see Orange network customers make calls for less than 1R per minute.

Head of corporate communication Angela Ng’ang’a-Mumo said Orange customers would enjoy the most competitive international calling rates on the local market beginning today, especially tailored for the Muslim community during the Ramadan period.

“This offer is aimed at making it more affordable for our customers to spread the joy of Ramadan to their friends and relatives who are outside Kenya”, said Mumo.

“The Ramadan offer will see the cost of making calls to Uganda, Tanzania and Australia reduced to 15 shillings per minute and 20 shillings to Europe, the rest of Africa and Asia.”

Calls to Russia and Eastern Europe would be priced at 25 shillings a minute, and 35 shillings a minute for the rest of the world.

The offer runs from the 12th August – 15th September, and applies to calls made from prepaid Orange mobile phones, wireless (CDMA) and Telkom fixed customers.

Mumo said they were using their superior VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service to activate the offer, meaning that calls made abroad from the Orange network would be very clear with minimal delays.

The Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar characterised by fasting in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual activities from dawn until sunset.
