Spescom Ltd, an integrated business communication solutions provider, has appointed Pieter du Preez as Group Executive: Business
Solutions Development as of 1 July 2010.
Says Jene Palmer, CEO of Spescom: “A key strategic driver for Spescom over the last three years has been the strengthening and innovation around our offerings to increase service revenues, leverage new opportunities and better meet the changing requirements of our customers. The appointment of Du Preez will further stimulate synergies between Spescom’s various divisions, leveraging the deep technology expertise and industry knowledge of each to create customised solutions that address customer needs directly
and add value.”
Spescom’s five divisions cover the gamut of the communications value chain: Spescom Telecommunications delivers carrier grade telecoms solutions, support and services; Spescom DataFusion sees to enterprise communication enablement and contact centre solution provisioning , including hosted and managed services; Spescom DataVoice develops proprietary voice and screen recording solutions that address risk, governance, compliance and workforce optimisation; Spescom Media IT delivers turnkey broadcasting solutions; and New Telco provides an independent telecoms marketplace for telecoms
providers.
Du Preez, who previously spent eight years with Spescom working in its Spescom DataFusion and Spescom DataVoice divisions, will be based at the Group’s Stellenbosch R&D facilities, and will be responsible for the development of new solutions and methods of product delivery in conjunction with Spescom’s divisional MDs.
Says Viv Crone, CTO of Spescom: “Du Preez is a very capable strategic thinker who understands the value of services and is able to communicate his thinking well at multiple levels. We are very pleased to have him as part of the Spescom executive leadership.
“We believe that the future of the communications sector will be in the sale of services – such as hosted and managed services, as well as virtualisation of services – rather than in providing technology components, and this is where we are positioning ourselves. Du Preez, who has a strong technical and business background and knows the Spescom companies well, is the ideal candidate to help bridge the gap between the five divisions, assisting us to identify and exploit synergies.”
Says Du Preez: “I will be emphasising innovation, creating forums that will assist everyone in the organisation to think innovatively, to conceptualise, collaborate and be creative, increasing Spescom’s capability to realise the potential within the organisation. We have a vast array of services and solutions to work with, a highly skilled resource base and an enviable level of expertise and industry know how. I look forward to getting involved in exploring and opening up new opportunities for the Group.”
Concludes Palmer: “Pieter’s knowledge and experience will stand him in good stead in terms of integrating business and technology planning within Spescom. We look forward to his contribution to the ongoing success of our Company.”
