Huawei, a leader in providing next generation telecommunications networks for operators around the world, is currently showcasing its end-to-end Mobile Broadband (MBB) solution to a number of telecoms operators in South Africa. The MBB roadshow which commenced this week in Johannesburg, Gauteng, will progress to other countries in Africa and other parts of the world.
The Huawei comprehensive MBB solution will assist operators to offer enhanced services by providing mobile subscribers with a better user experience and a higher network capacity. With a large broadband package, mobile operators can attract more subscribers with services such as video, TV, music downloading etc. The increase in both subscriber numbers and the data ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) will be financially beneficial as it will also reduce cost per bit, guaranteeing Return On Investment (ROI) for service providers.
Marketing Director for Huawei Sub-Sahara Africa, Fang Zhaojiang said, “Huawei MBB solution is a Win-Win approach to both the service providers and the mobile subscribers. It will bring large broadband service consumption for South Africa and significantly reduce the digital divide between South Africa and rest of the globe. With this solution, South Africa will advance in a number of areas such as utilizing more services and applications, using more smart terminals while enjoying affordable pricing”.
To date, Huawei have successfully deployed 40+ MBB networks based on SingleRAN* (Single Radio Access Network) solution in 20 countries. Huawei has also deployed world’s first SingleRAN network with O2 German and the world’s 1st LTE network with TeliaSonera in Norway.
“With the rapid increase in the commercial utilization of 3G technologies such as HSPA, the operators have the advantage of fully realizing the benefit of Mobile Broadband. It makes good business sense for operators to invest in profitable MBB and also select the most appropriate partners to help them achieve that milestone”, said Paul Wu, Chief Operating Officer for Huawei Africa.
Huawei believes that MBB should be an end to end solution and not only the base station and packet core. It is a TPC (Terminal, Pipeline, Clouding computing) solution, base station and packet core are only a part of pipeline (mobile access, bearer network, packet core , IP backbone).
