Sony announced it has fixed a bug that caused PlayStation 3 game consoles to remain unconnected to players’ online network.
According to company’s officials, the malfunction resulted from an internal clock error that mistakenly recognized 2010 as a leap year. Sony estimates approximately 20 million players might have been affected, however there is no need to recall the units, cites Bloomberg.com.
Sony’s latest game console, PS3, underwent a price cut by 25% to about $300 in August last year, in order to boost sales worldwide. This lead to a 90% increase in sales in the US only for the December month.
Sony has sold 33,5 million units of PS3 players worldwide.
