iPhone, not so cool anymore?

Must Read

Since the beginning of the year, Apple’s iPhone has started to lose market share to Google’s Android platform-based smartphones, claims a report released by media research agency Quantcast.

The recent report shows that iPhone OS based devices have suffered a significant drop in market share since January 2010, ironically the month when Google hit the market with their Nexus One handset, writes The Inquirer.

Furthermore, the Mobile World Congress, held in February in Barcelona, saw more and more Android-powered handsets and, as the report suggests, Android’s market share is on the increase, with an 8.3% growth in February and 15,2% overall since October.

Research in Motion’s BlackBerry showed a 13,8% growth over the same period, but its market share still is only 9.2%, comparing to Apple’s whooping 63.7%.

Recently, Apple sued HTC, an Android-based smartphone maker, for 20 alleged patent infringements.
