Telkom’s Data Centre Operations, Cybernest, launched in November last year, today announced the appointments of Grant Morgan and Althon Beukes as Managing Executives in the business unit.
“The two individuals were identified after an extensive talent search to lead Cybernest into the exciting future of Data Centre Operations in South Africa and beyond”, commented Pierre Marais, Acting MD of Cybernest.
Grant Morgan and Althon Beukes will assume the managing executive roles from 1 March 2010.
Previously General Manager for Data Centre and Storage Solutions at Dimension Data, Morgan has develop an excellent track record within the data centre environment in South Africa.
Beukes was a Telkom Executive for Infrastructure and Hosting Services, before being appointed as the Managing Executive of Cybernest Operations. Beukes joined Telkom in 1996 as a Senior Manager in Technology Integration and he became the Executive for Infrastructure and Hosting Services in 2004.
Althon has contributed to the building of Belville data centre, before Cybernest became a separate business unit.
Telkom is the major communications services provider in South Africa and on the African continent. The company offers business, residential and payphone customers a wide range of services and products, including fixed line voice services, data and Internet services and international communications services.
In October last year, Telkom reported approximately 4,4 million own telephone access lines in service and 99,9% of telephone access lines connected to digital exchanges.
