Nashua Mobile, C-track SA and Cell C have announced the launch of the new C-track ICE (In Case of Emergency), an all-in-one cellphone and personal tracking device.
The C-track ICE is a personal tracking and communications solution that allows the person in possession of the device to instantly alert emergency services in the event of a crisis.
“The moment the SOS button is pressed, a voice call is instantly connected through to the C-track Support Centre. The current GPS position of the C-track ICE unit is also sent immediately. From there armed response or medical services can be quickly dispatched, depending on the nature of the emergency,” states Mark Rousseau, managing director of C-track SA.
In addition, C-track ICE also allows the position of the person carrying the device to be continually monitored.
“The device also functions as a mobile GPS tracking device,” states Mark. “This makes it ideally suited for the active sports person training alone or being tracked whilst racing. By giving these devices to cyclists and runners, for example, one is able to track their movement, while also providing them with an opportunity to instantly alert emergency services and effective deployment of resources if an emergency occurs.”
Another industry that can benefit greatly from this product is the transport sector. While many operators already have tracking devices on their trucks, C-track ICE now also allows them to monitor the location of their drivers, not only the vehicles. So, if something should happen and the driver is separated from the vehicle, he or she can now instantly send out a distress signal that alerts the operator of their location.
In addition to its abilities to send an alert if an emergency occurs and to track the movement of an individual, it can also be furnished with four preselected quick dial, and 20 controlled phone book contacts numbers that can be dialled from the unit. One number will be utilised for the Cell C 112 emergency number for additional emergency services.
The C-Track ICE only weighs 62.5 grams, measures only 90mm in height, 46mm in width and a depth of 17.5mm making it compact and easy to carry.
Says Chris Scoble, managing director of Nashua Mobile “Nashua Mobile is pleased to collaborate with industry leaders such as C-track and Cell C to bring the new C-track ICE to our customers. We are excited to add this product to our offering in line with our promise to give our customers a choice of the very best telecommunications services and products available in South Africa and we believe that this safety and security device will truly benefit our customers”
From an all-inclusive price of R149.00 per month, which includes cellular subscriptions and 24/7 access to an emergency call-centre, C-track ICE is available from selected Nashua Mobile outlets and C-track fitment centres across the country
Yes, with the number of children that go missing each year, every parent should use a personal GPS tracking device, but you dont have to be a parent to need or benefit from owning one of these devices. Motorcycles, skis, musical instruments, laptop computers, purses & luggage, even the family dog: EVERYBODY has SOMETHING they want to protect!!!
When considering the purchase of a tracking device, do your homework because not all GPS systems are alike. Aside from features such as Geofencing, speed-alerts and so on, the one thing you really need to look into is the COST. Most GPS devices I’ve looked into have HIDDEN costs such as monthly/annual renewal fees or charge you per track ontop of the purchase price.
I ended up buying a system called “The GPS Guadian” at http://www.thegpsguardian.com . Not only did I get the device for FREE by purchasing 3 years of service up front, but I got the 4th and 5th year of service for FREE as well.
It’s a good and i would like purchase where can i get it?
