Business Connexion wins top Cisco award

At the Cisco Systems international partner awards event, held in Boston in June, Business Connexion established its position as a leading regional partner by winning the public sector partner of the year award for the Africa-Levant region.

Business Connexion has very successfully increased its market share in the public sector vertical over the last few years although, as a Cisco Gold Partner, the company plays a leading role in all other markets.

Cisco Systems is the world’s foremost vendor of networking equipment and network management solutions. Business Connexion is a strategic partner for Cisco, thanks to the company’s excellent record of winning tenders in all public sector areas, including local, provincial and central government.

“We provide the full range of Cisco products and technologies,” says Derek Glass, managing executive at Business Connexion. “This covers the well-known networking hardware, network management solutions and the latest developments, such as Cisco TelePresence video conferencing.

“As the world’s leading vendor, Cisco offers everything customers need to take advantage of networked, Internet-enabled business processes that can increase productivity and reduce costs. Business Connexion provides the expert design and implementation of these solutions, as an established Cisco Gold Partner.”

Prabashni Pillay, regional sales manager for channel, Cisco South Africa says, “As Cisco aggressively moves into adjacent markets during this economic downturn, our channel partners have never been more important to our success. With our financial strength, Cisco is uniquely positioned to invest in the health of our channel partner community.

“Partners like Business Connexion continue to distinguish themselves as key role players in the South African market and this award is further testimony of how they’ve continued to help customers derive growth and cost savings.”

Increasing efficiency by full use of network and Internet resources is a dominant trend in the private sector. It is no less important in the public sector, where such technology saves costs and improves information access from remote rural branches all the way to head offices in capital cities.

“The public sector, especially in South Africa, has a very forward-looking policy of using the latest technology to improve service delivery,” says Glass. “Business Connexion has firm and long-established relationships with many of the key players in these initiatives, such as SITA, the State Information Technology Agency.

“We have the expertise to provide the latest Cisco Systems solutions, with local support, and consult with all our customers regarding the best solutions for their needs.

“It is very gratifying to be recognised at an international event for our strategic role in the public sector as a Cisco partner and we look forward to build on this achievement in the years ahead.”
