KWANZIMAKWE, PORT SHEPSTONE – Today the Deputy Minister of Communication launches a community computer and internet access centre donated to Chief Bhekisizwe Nzimakwe by Mthinte Communications at the request of the Department of Communications. USAASA partners with Stats SA on ICT statistics collation
The main objective of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) is to collaborate in ensuring that information collected in the area of ICTs, particularly on the progress made towards attainment of universal service and universal access, meets the standard criteria set by Statistician-General as set out in terms of Statistics Act, 1999 (Act No 6 of 1996) in order to qualify as official statistics. USAASA and SIYAFUNDA CTC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the 27th July, 2011 at the Ratanda Centre, Heidelberg as part of their efforts to deliver on the mandate of USAASA. The significance of using this centre for the MOU signing ceremony was that this centre was closed for several years, and at the request of USAASA, SIYAFUNDA CTC rehabilitated the centre. Read more...
