Huawei and MTN launch F@stLink E2010 Football Modem
 

[Johannesburg, South Africa, 21 May 2010] Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunication network solutions for operators around the world and MTN, has recently launched the MTN’s F@stLink E2010 Football Modem, which is a replica the official football to be used at the FIFA World Cup 2010™ in South Africa.

During the launch, MTN revealed some of its attractive mobile broadband package offers such as the uncapped mobile broadband service. This announcement came ahead of the beginning of the FIFA 2010 soccer world cup in the next three weeks. MTN Subscribers will be able to access the internet at speeds of up to 21.1 Mbps.at several sites. Meanwhile, MTN and Huawei has successfully completed testing the roll out 3G services at 900MHZ, which will offer better quality coverage to MTN subscribers both on prepaid and contract packages. This move will also ensure that people that are located in rural areas are able to access the mobile broadband services at affordable rates. MTN South Africa is the first mobile operator in the country to offer 3G services at 900MHZ.

Huawei also revealed some of its latest broadband devices such as mobile phones, modems and wireless routers. Managing director of Huawei MTN Key Account Department, Mr. Dafeng Li, said: “Huawei and MTN are proud to introduce the E2010 Soccer modem. Huawei has not only developed Soccer modem for MTN but has also developed modem software for MTN self service system, namely Jenga, which can improve the mobile broadband user experience. Furthermore, we will introduce a variety of smart devices to the local market later this year. Huawei will make the best effort in working with MTN to achieve its goal of an all IP Mobile Network and a most advanced Mobile Broadband in South Africa”. .

Huawei remains in the forefront of the devices market globally, with an overall 90 million shipments by the end of 2009, of which 35million are broadband devices.

The MTN F@stlink E2010 soccer ball Modem is a showcase of Huawei’s capacity to respond to special groups or interests in the design and manufacturing of modems to complement its superior technology offering.

The modem has amazing features and it can operate on a variety of frequencies such as HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS 2100MHz; Edge/GPRS/GSM 1900/1800/900/850MHz; Equalizer; HSUPA Uplink up to 5.76Mbps; HSDPA Downlink up to 7.2Mbps; Micro SD slot for external storage; Plug and Play and SMS service, it will be suitable for use by soccer fans, business people, fashion consumers and the general public. It will be available in the market on both pre-paid and contract packages.

The E2010 modem will be exclusively available through MTN, in all African countries where MTN operates. It will soon be launched in Syria and other countries outside of Africa.
