MTN will implement rate decrease on 1 March 2010
MTN will implement the Mobile Termination Rate (MTR) decrease on 1 March 2010. This was revealed in a statement released by Robert Madzonga, acting chief corporate services officer at MTN South Africa.
According to the statement, they are in bilateral negotiations with Vodacom and Cell C respectively. Once an agreement has been reached with each of them, MTN will lodge the interconnection amendment agreement with the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA). Mr Madzonga also said “MTN will engage ICASA and the Minister of Communications in respect of the glide path principle”.
