Gabsten Technologies has formed a partnership with EasyBiz making CloudProtect solution available to EasyBiz QuickBooks users. A backup and recovery solution, CloudProtect allows business-owners to store important electronic data securely at a remote data centre located in South Africa. This will provide QuickBooks users with access to an affordable, secure cloud-hosted backup solution for all their financial and company information.

“A partnership like this makes sense, given that QuickBooks accounting software is the financial core of many businesses, while data management and protection is at the core of our business,” says Iniel Dreyer, Managing Director of Gabsten Technologies.

“As a company, we were looking for a solution that we could not only use ourselves but also sell onto our customers, offering more functionality and value than the previous solution. Before CloudProtect, we could not back up all our databases as the solution we made use of was file-based. CloudProtect from Gabsten was the perfect solution for us (and our customers) and met all of our requirement and more,” says Gary Epstein of EasyBiz QuickBooks.

Initially, it was necessary to ensure that customer data generated through QuickBooks software is protected, but the scope has been extended to ensure that the product will allow customers to backup any of their data on servers, platforms and devices.

“CloudProtect was chosen because of its ease of use and effortless implementation,” explains Dreyer, “along with the fact that our data centre is located in South Africa. This is particularly important given that EasyBiz is concerned with financial data that must, according to the Protection of Personal Information Act, be stored locally.”

In addition to being compliant with PoPI, backup of business information to the cloud is important for DR purposes, and CloudProtect makes it possible to retrieve lost or damaged data via the web, offering 24-hour technical support in a variety of languages.

“Furthermore, we could give them a predictable cost model, with no hidden costs – a model costed per GB of data stored, covering everything from backup to support and recovery. From an EasyBiz perspective, having CloudProtect in their product portfolio boosts their offering to customers. In this instance EasyBiz is selling a product that they themselves are using, which should serve as the ultimate reassurance to customers who have hesitated in backing up data to the cloud, as well as those customers that are starting to consider issues of PoPI compliance and its application to their business,” concludes Dreyer.
