MTN Ghana has launched its mobile money ATM cash-out service in Kumasi. MTN is said to have signed a partnership with EcoBank and Fidelity Bank in order to enable Mobile Money users to withdraw cash from both banks, without the use of an ATM card.
According to the operator, it has also launched the third Mobile Money Month celebrations to mark five years since MTN introduced a cash management service in the country. MTN MD, Serame Taukobong, stated that: “There are now over 1 million active MTN mobile money customers with more than 6.5 million transactions recorded on a monthly basis.”
Taukobong further stated that: “The service enables money transfers, airtime top-ups, DSTV and ECG bill payment and school fee payment facilities, and payments facilities at some retailers and restaurants.”
Taukobong added that partnerships are being pursued with insurance companies, educational institutions and organisations to enable transactions to be done through MTN mobile money.
