After winning a prestigious European Tech Start Up Award, Hellofood has announced its latest mobile app.

The mobile app allows customers to see recommended local restaurants and to select from thousands of dishes for delivery and take-away. The app features menus, pictures as well as customer reviews and ratings of restaurants. According to Hellofood, returning users can access their order history for fast and convenient re-order processes. Furthermore the app allows users to customise their meals by choosing, replacing or adding their toppings of choice.

Hellofood’s new app shows the importance of mobile strategy to tech companies operating in Africa. With smartphone and mobile internet penetration booming, Hellofood is already close to receiving 50% of its orders from mobile devices, and within the next 6 months, it will become a mobile company first and foremost. Having signed global pre-installation deals with Samsung and Nokia, and after receiving investment from major network operators MTN and Tigo, Hellofood has built partnerships that will help its app reach millions of African mobile users.

Joe Falter, CEO for Hellofood Africa, commented: “This is a big step forward for Hellofood as a mobile company. We’ve had massive demand for our mobile content from customers and major mobile partners including MTN, Tigo, Samsung and Nokia – and our gorgeous new app makes it even easier to discover and order food from the best restaurants in your area.

Hellofood operates across Africa, including: Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, and Ivory Coast – to name a few.
