Sony’s PlayStation 4 has been selling like hot cakes around the world, but while players has praised the company for their new controller design, the one aspects that garners much complaints is the light bar.
The light bar at the front of the controller emits a sharp blue glow when in operation, which couldn’t be turned off – until now. Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida confirmed in an interview with Spike TV that the light bar can be dimmed by users after the first software update on the controller.
“If you own a PS4, then you know just how preciously short-lived the DualShock 4’s battery life can be. The ability to muffle that glaring light should help extend the DS4’s longevity, but only slightly. Still, it’s a major boon for the community, and those of us that like our controllers to be less of a night light and more of a gamepad,” commented Engadget.
No specific date has been announced yet for the firmware update, but it’s expected to be within a few weeks.
