In a new effort to boost overall user base, Vodafone Ghana announced this week that it would be offering 30 days free of Whatsapp access on a number of Nokia mobile phones. The move is aimed to entice users to make the switch to the new Nokia phone devices and spur subscription growth for the company in West Africa.
The move, in partnership with Nokia Ghana, enables users to use the free app for one month on the new Nokia Asha 210, Nokia Asha 302 and the Nokia 206, the Ghana News Agency reported on Monday.
Experts have already praised the move, saying it will help boost the profile of Vodafone Ghana in the country and enable more offerings for new and existing users within the current framework of the companies devices on offer.
Vodafone Ghana chief of Terminals Ebenezer Ampadu said the offer “was also open to other customers, with the purchase of any Ghana warranty Nokia phone from any Vodafone retail shop.”
Ghana is seeing a large increase in mobile phone use and companies are scrambling to take advantage of the renewed interest after a few months of downtime. This new offering aims to enable the company to retain its current customers while also offering new options to get them on board.
