July 15, 2013 • Mobile and Telecoms, West Africa

MTN, a telecommunications operator in Nigeria, launched a new data bundle to provide affordable access to Eskimi, a 6 million size mobile social network in the country. The bundle is available in two packages: weekly for 25 Naira (approximately 15 US cents) and monthly for 60 Naira (approximately 37 US cents). Users of Eskimi bundle can enjoy browsing Eskimi for the selected period without any additional charge.

The solution will allow bundle users to browse all Eskimi pages: messages, profiles, fan clubs, chat rooms, forums, music content for a small weekly or monthly fee and at a fair usage data cap.

MTN Nigeria subscribers can order Eskimi bundle by sending SMS ESKW for a weekly plan or ESKM for a monthly data bundle to the short code 131. The bundle can also be activated by USSD dialing *662*1*3# and selecting the preferred bundle option.

“We are happy to announce this partnership with the largest telecommunications provider in Nigeria. Eskimi users are staying online on average for one hour every day. This will be good news for Eskimi members, as they will enjoy the service and also save money,” said Vytas Paukstys, CEO of Eskimi.

Larry Annetts, CMO of MTN Nigeria says: “Eskimi has shown tremendous growth in Nigeria, hitting a 6 million user mark this year in just few years after the service was launched in Nigeria. As clear leaders in the mobile internet market in Nigeria, and in line with our promise to offer flexible and affordable internet service options to our esteemed customers; we are happy to partner with Eskimi in introducing these new Eskimi data bundle plans.  We are sure Eskimi members will enjoy the new bundles and browse more”.
