In Pictures: Africa at Microsoft’s Imagine Cup
On the third day of Microsoft’s Imagine Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, competitor offerings will be scrutinised by judges who will physically test each submission.
Yesterday saw the individual teams presenting their games, apps and programs to judges – but that only made up half of the competition.
Judges today will evaluate all submissions by playing the games, seeing how the apps work and understanding precisely what went into building the various programs.
After the judges have made their rounds through all the teams, they will deliberate and eventually decide on a winner – which will be announced at an awards ceremony tomorrow (Thursday) night.
Nigeria, Cote d’Ivore, Kenya, Algeria, South Africa, Egypt and Uganda all made their presentations to the judges yesterday, and while there were a number of small hiccups during some of them, Africa definitely had some of the most innovative ideas around.
Have a look at the gallery below to see most of the African teams in actions, but also to get a glimpse of what the competition is all about.
