The open-world hacking title Watch Dogs has been on many a gamer’s radar ever since it was announced at Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 last year. Before the start of this year’s expo, a new trailer for the title was leaked, displaying what could be the best game of the year.
While there will be a plethora of other titles unveiled, announced and demonstrated at E3 this year, which officially kicks off later today, Watch Dogs is one of the few new Intellectual Properties raising a number of eyebrows – and all for the right reasons.
As seen in the newly-leaked trailer, which focusses on the main character Aiden Pearce’s reasoning for going after an accountant embroiled with human trafficking, the graphics look absolutely stunning. There is no doubt that it will make use of the full computing power of the next-generation consoles.
According to online sources, “the storyline of Watch Dogs is built around the concept of information warfare, data being interconnected, and the world’s increasing use of technology—questioning who exactly runs the computers they depend on.”
The title has already been development for three years at Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, and promises to deliver a brand-new way in which will interact with the world. Apart from the normal hacking shenanigans, characters will also be able to hack into the city’s power grid, control traffic lights and infiltrate people’s phones to retrieve banking data.
While the released trailers show gameplay footage, it is difficult for gamers to determine what sort of button layout and finer details will be employed. But purely going on the graphical design, the premise and the game’s mechanics, it could set itself up as being one of the best games of the year – at very least the best new IP players have seen in a long time.
Just have a look at the trailers below and let us know in the comments section what you think of the game.
