Kenya: Barclays Bank launches mobile app

In Kenya, The Star reports that Barclays Bank of Kenya has introduced a mobile banking app (BarclaysKenya), said to have similar functionality of the financial institution’s full online banking platform.

The service is freely available and accessible to customers who have registered successfully for Barclays Internet Banking writes The Star.

According to the report the technology offers clients the ability to view their balances, recent transactions, initiate inter-account transfers and pay bills. Customers can also use the app to access credit cards and loan transactions in realtime.

Barclays Bank of Kenya MD Jeremy Awori is quoted as saying, “The Kenya mobile banking arena is also fast developing and shaping the landscape of cashless transactions exponentially and this App is aimed at ensuring that convenience is key when carrying out bank transactions through Internet banking service. Our customers will not have to queue for long hours so as to be served instead the click of a button will do the magic.”
