Samsung Galaxy S III Mini specs revealed
Following hot on the heels of the hugely-successful Samsung Galaxy SIII, German site MobileGeeks has released the specifications of the just-announced Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. The phone will be almost identical to the original SIII, but will naturally be a bit smaller.
In terms of display size, the phone will have 4-inch Super AMOLED display and Jelly Bean-powered TouchWiz. The biggest surprise is the fact that the phone only has a 800 x 480 screen resolution and will not make use of the SIII’s quad-core Exynos processor – that has been replaced with a dual-core STE U8420 chip running at 1GHz.
Adding to its value within the budget category in terms of development and design, the phone runs on 1GB of RAM while the rear camera has a maximum resolution of only 5 MP. MobileGeeks also speculated that the mobile handset will retail for around $510.
The phone hasn’t been officially been unveiled by Samsung yet, but when Engadget reached out for comment, Samsung confirmed that “we’ll unveil the 4 inch Galaxy S III Mini in Germany on October 11th.”
“We think there’s strong demand for 4-inch screen models in Europe,” a Samsung spokeswoman added. There has been no confirmation is the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini will be available in Africa.
