Huawei, a global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has launched a new Android phone Ascend P1.
The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, with Auto rotate feature powered by G-sensor has been equipped with outstanding features to suit the diverse tastes of the discerning smartphone users. It features a dual core 1.5GHz CPU together with optimal software makes it the fastest model in class with the capability to multitask effectively.
The super thin smartphone of 7.69mm is optimized with Dolby Mobile 3.0+ combined with the Dolby Digital plus Decoder offers a superb listening experience making it possible for users to enjoy theater-like sound just through earphones.
Speaking during the launch, Huawei’s Kenya Representative Office Chief Executive Officer Mr. Wind Li said the introduction of the high-end Ascend P1 has been informed by the success registered with the entry-level Huawei IDEOS smartphones that have been in the local market over the last two years.
He pointed out that their strategic plan for the Kenyan market will see the global ICT giant provide high quality and competitively priced mobile devices, including tablet computers, targeting all market segments.

We are humbled to be amongst the world’s leading telecommunications equipment and solution vendors with the advantage of providing end-to-end solutions and we are hoping to capture a bigger share of the local device market”, said the C.E.O
Huawei has partnered with Kenyan Mobile Network Operators such as Safaricom to introduce most renowned IDEOS, IDEOS X5, S7 Slim smartphones, and most recently Ascend Y100, Huawei Media Pad and Honor.
He explained, “The IDEOS’s success in this market firmly establishes the open source Android as the smartphone of the people and demonstrates how unrelenting upswings in price-performance can jumpstart the spread of liberating technologies”.
Retailing at Kshs. 42,999, the Ascend P1 is targeting more elite mobile phone users, with the target of selling a minimum of 1000 units within the first month.
