Dawit Bekele, the Internet Society's Regional Bureau Director for Africa, speaking at a press conference at the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) in Johannesburg, South Africa on 23 August 2012 to announce the the Society's selection as the implementation partner for the African Union's African Internet Exchange (AXIS) Program, which aims to establish internet exchange points in 33 African countries.
