“Huawei will set up three Global Network Operation Centres and one of them is in Lagos. The Lagos GNOC, which is expected to be put into use by July this year, will be of great value in the training of telecom experts. This GNOC is capable of maintaining all networks managed by Huawei in Africa and Europe. This will create lots of job opportunities for Nigerians and develop a large number of telecoms experts. The GNOC in Lagos is expected to be put into use by next month,” said Managing Director for Huawei in Nigeria, Pan Fan.

Fan also added that they have already built a training centre in Abuja. “Huawei aims to be a localised company by expanding its local investment. We have built a technical training centre in Abuja, which is the first one built by any telecommunications solutions provider here. The centre has trained more than 5,000 telecommunication engineers for various stakeholders,” Fan said.

According to the company, “Huawei has grown to become a global ICT solutions provider running its business in over 140 countries worldwide. It becomes the second largest ICT solutions provider with USD 32.4 Billion revenue in 2011, an 11.7% growth over the previous year.”

Fan added “We have made strategic investments, augmented our research and development capabilities and deployed resources globally, and implemented a future-oriented business architecture that puts Huawei in a confident position for sustained growth.”
