“The intention is to connect learning institutions located in rural areas to each other and to other institutions in the country, while at the same time fostering collaboration and exchange of information,” said Deputy Minister Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize.

The Deputy Minister is about to embark on a two-day to Zimbabwe to attend the Southern African ICT for Education Summit, where she will be making a presentation on investment and higher education in South Africa.

“The South African National Research and Education Network (SANREN) project is expected to create a network between higher learning institutions and research organisations in a few years’ time, and investment into the project has been made since 2007,” Biz Community wrote.
