Sony confirmed that they won’t be making a PlayStation 4 announcement at this year’s E3 (Entertainment and Electronics Expo) in Los Angeles. This comes after rumours started to swirl around that Sony and Microsoft will be making announcements about their respective consoles’ successors.
The PlayStation 3, which was launched in 2006, has been billed as having a 10-year life cycle, something that Sony’s Kaz Hirai reiterated.
“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3. I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that,” Hirai told journalists at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.
While Microsoft officially still needs to comment on their next Xbox console, rumours are rife that the company will make an announcement at E3 in June.
