Fans of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 franchise will be delighted to know that Ubisoft is in the process of developing a new title, which will be called Rainbow 6 Patriots – but they are going to wait two years for the release.
According to Ubisoft, “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots revolves around a dynamic single-player storyline that captures the reality of modern-day terrorism and allows players to experience it from multiple characters’ perspectives.” The game is due to be released on Xbox360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013.
“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction,” said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft.
“This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”
Author Tom Clancy has been involved with a number of video games, and has seen a wide variety of his books turned into game. The Rainbow 6 franchise specifically has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide, and for a long time has been on the forefront of shooter titles.
In terms of story, Patriots will focus on a “new and very real threat called the True Patriots, a highly-trained, well-organized revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests. “
