Motorola unveils Xoom 2 tablet

November 4, 2011 • Gadgets and Gaming

Motorola Mobility has announced the follow-up device to their Xoom tablet, with two versions of the newly-launched Xoom 2. The Xoom 2 will be available in two Wi-Fi variants and well as a Xoom 2 Media Edition.

“Tablets are quickly becoming a must-have tool for staying connected, getting work done and having fun at home and on the road,” said Victoria McManus, marketing director UK & Ireland, Motorola Mobility.

“We are very excited about these two new additions to our tablet portfolio that build on the success of the original Motorola Xoom to now deliver more powerful tablet experiences to the European market.”

Both versions of the tablet will feature Android 3.2, a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, brilliant displays with Corning Gorilla Glass and a splashguard coating for protecting the device from water damage. They will also ship with Motorola’s latest MotoCast app, “that lets you stream all your music, photos, videos and documents between your PC or Mac and tablet without any media tools, apps, or cords.”

There is still no word from Motorola South Africa as to when and if South Africa will be getting the Xoom 2, especially since the first Xoom only made it onto the market a couple of months ago.
