Tigo Rwanda launches dual SIM phone

March 23, 2011 • Mobile and Telecoms

Tigo Rwanda has introduced a dual SIM handset, the first offer of its kind on the Rwandan telecom market. The phone is only available at Tigo Tower Muhima and at the UTC service center in Kigali City center and the stock is very limited.

The phone costs only Rwf24,700 (US$41). It is a dual standby phone and it can switch from SIM 1 to SIM 2 without a hassle. One of the slots is fixed for a Tigo SIM card and the other is open for any other SIM card. The phone also comes with a video camera, a still camera, FM radio, Internet, MP3 player, Bluetooth, a memory card slot and a color screen.

Dual SIM mobile phones are specially designed mobile phones which have the option of inserting two SIM cards and staying connected on two numbers, simultaneously, through a single mobile instrument.

According to Nina Ndabaneze, Tigo Rwanda’s Marketing Manager, “Once again, we at Tigo Rwanda have listened to our clients and are pleased to be the first telecom in Rwanda to offer our users with an affordable mobile phone that can allow them to carry another SIM card of their own choice while they keep their Main Tigo SIM card.”

“With the new Tigo dual SIM phone there is no need of carrying two mobile phones and no extra enhancement is required to take advantage of this unique feature,” she added.
