The elegant Wall St Restaurant in Sandton hosted the 6th installation of IT News Africa Innovation Dinner. 85 C-Level executives, senior managers and decision makers from the ICT industry gathered to discuss the theme “Driving Innovation with Enterprise Mobility”. The dinner has been praised by industry leaders as a superb opportunity to network with top-flight ICT executives, and last night’s event did not disappoint.
While the networking opportunity is the major draw card for the Innovation Dinners, IT News Africa is also very proud of the speakers who present talks during the evening chaired by Magnus Mchunguzi, MD Ericsson SA. Thought provoking presentations were given by Christian de Faria, Senior VP for Commercial and Innovation at MTN, David McMurdo, Industry Standard Server Sales at HP and Raymond Buckle, CEO of Silverstone Solutions.
Discussion at the event centered around the staggering increase in mobile data and the emergence of cloud computing in the business environment. The emergence of the empowered African consumer has sparked a revolution with service providers rolling out applications to match the demand for secure, mobile 21st-Century applications.
MTN has it’s eyes on projects such as Mobile Money, while HP is embracing the continuous opportunities provided by the always-on Internet. Silverstone sees the mobile media boom climaxing in 2017 and envisions the combination of society, technology and the economy in the next nine years.
