s_blatter.jpgTo date, more than 380,000 tickets have been sold online for the FIFA Confederations Cup soccer tournament, kicking off in South Africa next month.

Says organiser spokesperson, Delia Fischer: “This corresponds to 63 percent of the total number of tickets available.”

She said tickets for the matches that will involve defending champions, Brazil, have been sold out, as well as tickets for the opening and final matches of the tournament.

The FIFA confederations cup is help by the host country of the FIFA World Cup tournament in the year prior to the event. It serves as a trial run and test of readiness for the largest sporting extravaganza in the world.

“So far 25 000 tickets have been sold over the counter since the opening of the FIFA Confederations Cup Ticketing Centres. The majority of tickets have been purchased and collected at Johannesburg (33 509), followed by Pretoria (12 159), Bloemfontein (7 521) and Rustenburg (2 055),” Fischer added.

Meanwhile, about 80 000 tickets for next year’s world Cup have already been sold online. An additional 100 000 tickets are currently being processed.
