The South Africa communications regulator said players in the sector had written to it requesting more time to respond to the initiative. The closing date has been extended to may 29. It was initially set for April 30.
“The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (the “Authority”) has received requests for extension of the closing date for responses to draft radio frequency spectrum fees regulation published on the 16th of March 2009 in government gazette number 32029,” ICASA said.
“The Authority hereby extends the closing date for written submissions in relation to the draft radio frequency spectrum fees regulation from the 30 April 2009 to 29 May 2009.”
The draft radio frequency spectrum fees regulation was published in the Government Gazette of March 16, 2009.
