The Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication, in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality, aim to elevate Zimbabwe’s status to a favorite destination for tourists travelling to the region.
Says Information, Technology and Communication Minister, Nelson Chamisa: “The challenges facing the ICT sector were negatively affecting online marketing of the country’s tourist destinations. We have the Internet but it is slow when other countries have advanced on communication technologies,”
Speaking at a tourism stakeholder meeting in the country’s capital, Harare, the minister made the comments amid a marked reduction in numbers of tourists to the country, following a sustained period of political uncertainty and economic decline.
Attractions such as the Victoria Falls and numerous natural and wildlife parks have the potential to attract a lot of tourists and foreign currency inflow to the country.
