ICASA assigns new frequency to broadcaster

March 30, 2009 • Top Stories

icasa_1.jpgThe Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has announced that it intends to categorize frequency 91.7 MHz as a commercial sound broadcasting service frequency.

The frequency had not previously been included in ICASA’s frequency plan.

The regulator of South Africa’s telecommunications industry has subsequently given notice of its intention to grant Capricorn FM frequency 91.7 MHz should the public not object to the categorization.

The intentions have already been published in the Government Gazette. “Interested parties are invited to lodge written representations in relation to the categorization by no later than 16 April 2009,” ICASA said in a brief statement.
