Accsys_Teryl_2008_02.JPGCummins Inc., a global power leader, is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies, has partnered with Accsys, a South African based national and international provider of HR and payroll management solutions.

This forms part of Cummins’ campaign to rollout a global Oracle HRMS application and consolidate dispersed payroll applications into a solution for the region.

Cummins Inc. has assembled the team consisting of highly skilled subject matter experts and outsourced Oracle e-Business Suite consultants. The team represents the global Cummins Inc project for HR consolidation.

The decision to work with select payroll service providers in specific regions is partly because of legislation, but also to ensure that whilst payrolls can be processed on the locally developed system, the data is fully integrated into the overall One Source system.

Like its partner Accsys, Cummins Inc enjoys a significant presence in Africa. It has branches in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“Cummins Inc has commented that our system has been developed with similar logic to that used to develop the Oracle system. They have also pointed out that the Accsys system features functionality and benefits as well as some additional features which they have found extremely effective and easy to use,” says Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys.

Aivars Pavluks, Project Manager at One Source, said, “Payroll processing is not within the scope of the Oracle HRMS project implementation. Cummins rely on the local vendors to provide the regional payroll solution. Our goal is to automate the data transfer between Oracle HRMS system and local payroll solution. By doing this we meet multiple objectives.”

Objectives include compliance with Cummins Diesel’s stringent Sarbanes-Oxley and Segregation of Duties compliance policies, which are officially and formally audited. Furthermore, it ensures that a common payroll system in the region for all countries adds value and secures benefit.

“We only have to deal with one interface and we are saving on cost of maintenance of not having to develop many different interfaces to many different payroll systems. We can also unify business processes, process payrolls from a single location to various countries and utilise resources more efficiently. We are looking at a single corporate HR system globally and a single payroll provider capable of servicing all countries where Cummins Inc. has presence in the region. Accsys met all our requirements and was an obvious choice for a technology partner,” adds Pavluks.

“The operation has been very successful. Accsys has been exceptionally accommodating. We have experienced many payroll service providers around the world and we would certainly rank Accsys as one of the top providers in terms of solutions, customer care and expertise worldwide,” Pavluks concludes.
